Fernery Paintings

Fernery with Moon Butterflies Dragonfly

Ferns have a prehistoric resonance; an original plant form. A personal garden art painting here gives a view of ferns when the real ones die back in winter.  The bronzed trellis was chosen for border decorative effect and this painting of 30H x 24W inches is really an idea for a larger mural in which the scene is viewed beyond a gate with more details. Butterflies and moon stand out against the strong blue background. I copied the dragonfly from a photograph of a real 4 inch turquoise dragonfly which came into the living room which is rather prehistorically large for the scene.  With any design subject matter there are many variations of interpretations to explore; such as the pattern in the fern fronds and the mirrored pattern of butterfly wings.  The spirals of unfurling fronds are very pretty, as a cosmic form.  More ferns from the pond setting. Future design plans include printing with fronds onto silk.
